HECM Reverse Mortgage Effects on Interest Deduction

As a HECM counselor, I speak with seniors all the time who are concerned about not being able to deduct their loans interest from their taxes every year. Even though they are reducing their expenses by doing the HECM Reverse Mortgage, many seniors still count on that deduction every year. Why can’t the seniors deduct the Reverse Mortgage’s interest from their taxes every year? And are there any ways around this without having to avoid the Reverse Mortgage entirely?

(If no outside response is given, answers will be posted within 3 business days.)

DebtHelper.com is licensed in Indiana now…

Debt Settlement how it works

I called a Company Genisis debt settlement the other day and the lady said that the amount they charge is 10% of the settled amount. This would be about $3,400 on my $34,000 debt and then they charge a $55 fee on top of that for 48 months ($2640) for a grand total of $6,040.

Wow….. and I think this also may hurt my credit. Credit counseling may take longer, 5 years but it may be better for my credit.

Bank of America

I do not understand why Bank of America wants me to place all my accounts on the program. Because of this I am not able to place them on the program. My payment would be to high.
